To be given the opportunity to preach the Word of God is a fearful, awesome, and amazing thing - no matter how many times you do it. To preach at over 9,000 feet at a beautiful Christian camp deep in the mountains is more amazing still. But to do all this alongside a precious brother in the Lord and friend is most precious of all!
A fellow pastor from Ellerslie and I were invited to teach at a youth group retreat - "Kaleo" from Country Bible Church in Kaufman, Texas. They were meeting in the mountains of Colorado Springs at a delightful little place called Bear Trap Ranch.
We brought our families, and spent three days enjoying God's creation and fellowshiping with the youth group and the staff of Bear Trap Ranch. The youth of Kaleo are a sweet bunch, and I'm excited for what the Lord has for them as they continue to pursue after Jesus! We taught on the following:
- Self Control
- The Priority of Love
Kudos to the group for enduring the lack of oxygen! 9000+ feet is a drastic change from sea level. Hiking up the mountain was a challenge...
...But the view was worth it.
Lest you think that our daughter is always smiling, this is what she looks like when you take away her watermelon rind. :)
Patience likes swings much more than I did when I was a kid. (Notice her clapping for joy).
Our cabin for the week. What a blessing it was to be able to bring my family along!
Resting in-between sessions.
Patience made some new friends. :)
There were hummingbirds around these feeders constantly. I've never seen so many!
Driving down the mountain. I love that woman!!!
Thank you Country Bible Church and Kaleo! Don't forget #12Billion and #KaleoToPhileo!
